Our executive director, Chet Tchozewski, was awarded the 2004 Council on Foundations Robert W. Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking. We are very pleased with the honor and with the added visibility that it offers our work. Dorothy S. Ridings, the Council’s president and CEO said, “The work of Global Greengrants Fund is critical in combating poverty and environmental destruction in developing countries. Chet Tchozewski’s persistent vision and ability to challenge conventional grantmaking practices has enabled grassroots organizations in remote parts of the world to receive support that may otherwise be unavailable.”
The Scrivner Award honors grantmakers who possess a combination of vision, principle, and personal commitment to making a difference in a creative way through grantmaking. In its announcement the Council notes that Chet helped pioneer strategies for simple and effective grantmaking that supports the growth of civil society in developing economies and emerging democracies.
Chet wishes to thank the Council and our supporters over the years, with special thanks to our grantees and advisors who dedicate their lives to making the world a better place. The award is shared across the entire Greengrants community.
