Nonette Royo, Greengrants Southeast Asia Advisory Board Coordinator and founding member of the Samdhana Institute (Greengrants’ Alliance Fund member) was recently selected to participate in the 2005-2006 Donella Meadows Leadership Fellows Program at the Sustainability Institute.
Nonette is an attorney, activist and author in the fields of natural resources management and empowerment of indigenous groups. She co-founded several key organizations addressing land tenure and women’s rights in the Philippines. She now lives in Jakarta, where she helped community and environmental groups form the KEMALA Foundation. KEMALA gives small grants to civil society groups that address environmental and natural resource management challenges. Currently, she facilitates a multi-stakeholder forestry policy reform process in a program sponsored by Great Britain.
Nonette is one of 18 fellows selected from the non-profit, government, business and philanthropy sectors worldwide. The Sustainability Institute selects fellows based on their ability to grapple effectively with multi-stakeholder issues in their work and for their potential to influence thinking in their communities and beyond. We congratulate Nonette for her accomplishments and this well-deserved award.
