NPR on Gas Flaring in Nigeria

Listen to a broadcast by National Public Radio on the impacts of gas flaring in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Oronto Douglas, of Greengrants’ grantee Community Defence Law Foundation in Nigeria, speaks to the “monumental waste” of natural resources involved in gas flaring.

Greengrants has funded grassroots groups working to stop gas flaring—a practice that is responsible for horrific health and environmental problems—in this region for years. Our grantees are part of an ongoing legal case to get Shell Oil to stop gas flaring. Global Greengrants Fund

Global Greengrants Fund believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of people on the frontlines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.
