According to Greengrants’ China Advisory Board Coordinator, “The new generation of Chinese youth activists is using the media to become more empowered and more effective. [Young people] use this new media to publicize, to network, to get connected with people who are not in the same region. So, they can share ideas, share information instantly over the Internet, through email, and blogs.”
Wen Bo, who has led Greengrants’ China program since it began in 1999, was recently featured in the article Five Secrets to Success from China’s Top Green Heroes. The article, published on EcoWorldly.com, highlights five environmental leaders who are working to promote a clean and healthy environment for the people of China.
Wen Bo uses the strategy of connecting people and building environmental networks in his role as the coordinator of the Greengrants China Advisory Board. He works with Greengrants’ volunteer advisors to direct small grants to more than 25 grassroots organizations working throughout the country each year. Wen Bo and his colleagues have been extremely successful in empowering a new generation of Chinese environmental leaders.
