We are contacting you with a request for emergency funding to support civil society organizations in Honduras resisting the military regime that forcefully ousted President Manuel Zelaya on June 28th.
This request comes directly from Greengrants’ Central America Advisory Board, which has identified an immediate need to extend additional resources to local organizations facing intimidation and violent repression from the de facto regime.
We are launching an emergency campaign to help provide those resources. With a donation of $100 or more, you can help cover hospital bills for those injured by government crack-downs of protests, buy cell phone minutes for movement leaders, provide food and shelter for protestors, and enable other strategic political work to strengthen the platform for democracy. Please give as generously as you can.
The crisis in Honduras has mobilized thousands of people from the environmental, indigenous, labor, and rural arenas, who have come together to form The National Resistance Front. After months of activity, this vibrant and diverse movement—the most active social movement in the history of Honduras—is at a critical juncture and in desperate need of resources.
In order to give you a balanced view of the situation, here are two articles:

- An opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal
I have posted more information on the campaign and Greengrants’ commitment here, as well as additional links for recent updates.
With deep appreciation,
