Maria Hadjimichael was deeply affected by the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunamis that devastated communities in central Chile. She had visited some of the communities during her dissertation research for her Master’s and, after the disaster struck, she decided to take action to help the shattered towns she had come to love.
As a fundraiser for the Greengrants Chilean Disaster Recovery Fund, Maria has pledged to cut her prized dreadlocks in exchange for donations. So far, she’s raised over $1,600 to support sustainable recovery initiatives in the region! You can check out her blog and support her sacrifice and the dozens of Chilean communities she’s helping by making a donation on her behalf. Thanks, Maria!
