What will it take to stop climate change?
On Thursday June 23, we’ll be hosting the local Boulder, Colorado premiere of Not Without Us. Made by the same team that brought us the acclaimed Colorado River documentary Watershed, this action-packed film follows Nnimmo Bassey, a renowned Nigerian environmentalist (and the chair of Global Greengrants Board of Directors), and six other grassroots activists as they head to Paris for COP21.
The filmmaker, and founder of Kontent Films, Mark Decena, will be available after the screening for a Q&A. Click here for tickets.
Naomi Klein, author of This Changes Everything and The Shock Doctrine said about the film, “A must-see portrait of frontline communities and activists who gathered in Paris in December 2015, fighting for the strongest possible climate deal while fearlessly exposing its limits. These are the voices defending the land and water in some the most threatened places around the world, protecting the planet in the process — and it is the rare film that gives them such a compelling platform.”
The Paris talks culminated in an accord signed by 196 nations and touted by mainstream media as a historic success. But what kind of accord was adopted? An agreement that will embrace all of humanity, or one full of non-binding proclamations tailored to for-profit multi-national corporations?
Ultimately, the question remains: can the COP21 agreement stop catastrophic climate change? Perhaps we need to call upon our most powerful renewable natural resource: the will of the people.
We hope to see you at the event along with your family and friends!
