Dear Global Greengrants Fund Family,
It is with great excitement that we announce the appointment of Laura García as the President and CEO of Global Greengrants Fund. Laura has experience working closely with grassroots movements, has a global vision, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to our mission.
After 26 years of funding grassroots activists under the leadership of two effective predecessors, founder Chet Tchozewski and recently retired CEO, Terry Odendahl, the organization sought a new person to continue our work to protect our shared planet and work toward a more equitable world.
Today, we are thrilled to share that we have found all of these qualities in Laura. Laura previously served for seven years as the Executive Director of Fondo Semillas, a nonprofit organization in Mexico that works to improve the lives of women across the country. Laura is well versed in the power of grassroots activism, as evidenced through her work with feminist activists and grassroots organizations at Fondo Semillas. She is excited to be joining Global Greengrants Fund, and is very committed to our work promoting environmental justice and getting resources into the hands of those on the frontlines of protecting our planet.
Laura has been a passionate advocate for justice throughout her career, and demonstrates a deep alignment with our mission, as well as a clarity of vision around the future of the organization and the role we play addressing environmental injustices across the globe.
Along with exceptional organizational leadership skills, Laura knows how to work with multiple stakeholders to drive change. Her leadership in gender justice resonates with our commitment to working through an intersectional lens on environmental justice.
2020 is a watershed year, both for Global Greengrants Fund, and for our planet. We look forward to the vision, innovations, and experience Laura will bring to this position and hope that you share our excitement in welcoming her to the Global Greengrants family.
Warm regards,
Nnimmo Bassey and Regan Pritzker
