DECEMBER 2, 2022 – A statement from Laura García, Global Greengrants Fund CEO & President, reflecting on a gift from the Waverley Street Foundation.
Dear Global Greengrants Fund community,
We are excited to share that we have recently received a gift from the Waverley Street Foundation.
We thank the Waverley Street Foundation for placing their trust in the lasting and effective climate solutions determined by local leaders, organizations, and communities. They join our important network of existing donors and partners who understand how vital it is to shift resources and power to these grassroots climate groups.
There will be no true shifts in our climate crisis unless justice and equity are centered in solutions, and unless we collectively put human rights over profit and the health of the Earth over the material comfort of a few. At Global Greengrants Fund, we believe solutions to environmental harm and social injustice must come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of advisors and grantee partners on the frontlines of the climate crisis, as well as our donors, come together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.
Thank you to Waverley Street Foundation and everyone in the Greengrants community for supporting that change. It will take all of us, including Greengrants’ incredible current network of advisors, grantee partners, and donors, to create a future where all people live with dignity and in harmony with the environment.
In solidarity,
Laura García
